Kinja'd!!!

I delivered a lot of newspapers to pay for this 1968 Beetle in 1976.

If I remember correctly, it cost me 700 bucks and at the time it had about 70 k on it.

This pic was taken in 1977 after I had it repainted but before I did any engine and tire/wheel/susp work.

It ended up with a 2180 big barrel kit, dual carbs and an obnoxious stinger exhaust pipe. I had a set of stock wheels widened by a buddy of mine so I could run wider tires and still keep the stock hubcaps I even ran porta whitewalls on it for a sleeper look.

I eventaully gave it to my mom to drive after I bought a used completely loaded 73 Maverick a couple years later.

When I was a baby (early 60’s), she owned a 56 Ford Crown Vic that was a PA state trooper pursuit vehicle....she would put me in a baby seat and go street racing.

My pop was in the Navy at the time, he never found out until years later :-)

Man, I sure wish I still had that car.......it was a blast to outrun all my buddies driving emission choked Trans-Ams.
